Many of us try lots of different remedies so we get the appropriate amount of sleep.  Why is it sometimes so difficult.  Sometimes you can just lay there, and lay there, thinking if you breathe deeply; if you pretend, even if you just relax as much as possible you will fall asleep.  Sometimes it works.  But when it doesn’t what can you do.

 I have tried Nytol, in your local chemist you will find both the herbal and ‘chemical’ remedies.  I have tried the herbal - didn’t do a lot for me.  But the chemical version - yep certainly did get some sleep with this one.  In fact, if you take the strong version, in the morning you can feel so groggy, it can take an hour or so, just to feel normal.  It certainly works, but at what cost.

 What do I mean by that?  Well, everytime, I mean every time I went to buy some, I would be given a semi lecture by the counter assistant to tell me, that I mustn’t take it for more than 7 days because, the body begins to rely on it - and when you don’t take it, you can’t get to sleep because your body begins to need it.  Well, a bit dodgy don’t you think.  The very thing that initially sends you to sleep, begins to keep you awake if you take it for a few nights.

 So there, what can you do?

Well I next tried valarian.  Watch this space and I’ll let you know my thoughts on that!
