The Swing Sets And It’s Accessories

If it’s been a while since you were a child, and you’re now researching what type of swing set to buy for your own kids, then you’ll notice that some big changes have been made since your own swinging days. Manufacturers now sell swing sets and such a range of extra accessories and play areas that you may wish you were a kid once again, just so you could play with these things yourself. Gone are the days of the swing and slide combination being the norm. It’s not that the slide has disappeared; it’s just got a lot of company now.

One of the favorite new features is the club house, and you can get these for almost any type of swing set, large or small. For example, one of the sets carried by Little Tikes is called a Clubhouse swing set for toddlers, and it includes a raised, roofed platform that children can climb up to via stairs or a climbing wall, with a slide used for coming down. Other companies that sell swing sets and their accompanying accessories, such as Play Nation and Rainbow Play Systems, really go to town with club houses. They place them as central towers off of which the swings, slides, climbing and rope walls, and other swing accessories can branch.

In many ways, what people are really getting with the newest swing sets are actually swing sets and a gym. It’s not just a matter of sitting in a seat and swinging any more. Some of the available add-ons, like climbing walls or rope walls, give kids a physical workout as they play. Even wooden swing sets have something along the lines of what used to be called “monkey bars,” which were often featured on the older metal sets. The newer version is a row of wooden bars suspended above the ground, which the kids can hang from and climb on. Some sets add punching bags, while others have a hanging trapeze with side handles. These play sets provide the chance for strenuous activity as well as fun.

Swing sets and all their new, innovative accessories have taken play time far beyond the old, more passive days of just sitting on a swing and then sliding down a slide. These sets are now physical activity centers that have made exercise a fun experience. How does that old saying go? “Don’t tell them it’s good for them.” As they play and climb all over their outdoor swing set, your kids will hardly even realize they are getting a good workout while they’re having a great time.
